Injection molds are mostly made of tool steel. During the injection molding process, corrosive gases, water and other substances that cause rust will be encountered. Rust will occur in another injection mold. Plastic parts made of rusty injection molds will cause quality problems, so this problem needs to be ruled out.
First of all, what causes the rust of the injection mold?
① Gas generated from the decomposition of plastic melt
Some raw materials produce volatile gases when heated. Many raw materials also generate volatile gases when they are overheated. These gases are corrosive and they diffuse around the machine. When the injection mold is not working, they will corrode the mold.
For this reason, when the machine stops working, use a soft cloth to clean the injection mold and close the mold. If it is not used for a long time, spray the rust inhibitor in the mold cavity. When closing the mold, apply butter and plug it. Gate.
② Carbide generated during injection molding
After working for a long time, injection molds precipitate and decompose into carbides in the molding material, which often causes the mold to wear, corrode or rust. In this regard, if carbides are found, they should be wiped off and cleaned with a dry cloth immediately.
③ Cooling water in injection mold
Multi-pass cooling water in the injection mold for rapid cooling, so there is more water vapor around the machine. If the injection mold is cooled to a certain degree, the gas in the air will form water droplets on the surface of the injection mold, and it is easy to rust if it is not wiped off in time.
Especially after the injection mold has stopped working, condensed water can be generated quickly. Therefore, do not stop injection molding easily. Even if you want to stop, shut off the cooling water and dry the injection mold.
